Hi again everybody, it's been awhile! My last sample order (Lure Beauty) finally came in, so here are some photos of what I got. It was sample heaven...some of the companies are pretty good about adding in some extra freebies with your order!
This is what I got last week: 4 boxes in at once =D
Here's what were inside those little packages:
1) Everyday Minerals
I got Golden Medium in the matte and semi-matte formulas, Winged Butter in semi-matte, Mint concealer aka redness reducer for me, and Email Me blush.
2)J.Lynne Cosmetics:
I got the Mineral Smooth Foundations(1.9, 2.5 and 3.?) and the matte priming powder in Peach and the multi-powder in Golden (I was shocked at how yellow it is...but maybe that is a good thing for me). The freebies that I got from J.Lynne were: Shy blush, Kinoko e/s and mineral glow in Bronze.
3) Loose Lips New York
I was excited to see so many samples for $5, however the whole order was covered in gold shimmer (which turned out to be an eyeshadow sample). It was all over the products and my hands when I opened the baggie. Among the samples: mini lip gloss, lip balm (the 'ball'), body wash, cleansers, mmu, moisturizer ( i think...there was a bunch of skin care stuff). Here's a photo of the opened up ball:
Nice lip balm. The sticker saying LooseLipsNY on the right side came off and revealed the company that actually makes the ball (and balm? i don't know) lol. I like the balm, though, it has a mild sweet flavor to it and it glides on smoothly - think thinner version of chapstick.
4) Lumiere
Got the Pearlfecting Powder and foundation samples in the cashmere, vv and luminesse formulas.
5)Lure Beauty(came a few days later)
I only ordered the 3 foundation samples (in Y7, Y8 and Y9) on the left, and got 5 freebies - which are the 4 on the right including this candle sample:
Clever marketing, since the candle requires a candle warmer dish...if you don't have one they give you a 15% discount to buy it from them, heh.
THE END =D
That was my sample haul! Very mini compared to most of you girls..=D. I didn't bother doing swatches because it was mostly foundation samples...but if anyone is interested, let me know. Did I find my foundation for the summer? I tried all of them and this is my rundown:
1)EM: I used to be a perfect match between Golden Medium and Winged Butter, but I forgot about spending a whole afternoon at California Adventure/Disneyland 2 weeks ago so these are a tad light for me now. *SIGH* The Email Me blush is too light for me - it actually kind of blends into my skin! I might experiment with it by using it like I do SN's Date Bait.
2)J.lynne: My face itched when I used the foundation, but I'm going to blame my Coastal Scents pink kabuki (was pretty awesome at first but now its a piece of crap - sheds and is rough). I guess it doesn't matter because the J.Lynne foundation isn't yellow enough for my skin tone - but I really liked the Shy blush. I haven't tried the e/s or glow samples yet.
3)LLNY: I like the lip balm, am afraid to use the skin care products (nothing against the company, I just don't want to irritate my sensitive skin). I threw out the e/s gold shimmer sample because I got kinda mad when it was all over the place, lol. I'll sample their stuff soon and tell you what I think.
4)Lumiere: Out of the three foundation formulas (I got the Lt.Medium Golden shade) VV was horrible on me, the best one was Luminesse.
5)Lure Beauty: Again, not yellow enough. The foundations were more beige/peach than yellow...eventhough the formulas I received were supposed to be the 'most' yellow. The lotions feel nice, not too sticky...not crazy bout the fragrances I got, especially the Chamomile :/. The candle sample smells yummmmy.
Sooo...in conclusion :), Lumiere's luminesse foundation worked best for me but I'm going to have to see if they have something with more yellow tones in it. I want to make EM work for me but I'm going to figure out a new summer shade and see if matte or semi-matte works best on me. I'm kinda bummed that the other foundations weren't yellow enough but that's no surprise - I'm 'yellower' than most Asians I know, so it sucks finding a foundation that matches.
My skin's been crappy this past week because I haven't been drinking enough water - I can tell because I wake up with a sore throat from thirst! So my skin's been been patchy and drier than usual (plus oily..gross!), yuck yuck yuck and def. not good for mmu.
On a brighter note, I've been working out regularly with one of my roommates! She's getting married this summer and I'm one of her bridesmaids so we're extra motivated lol =D. I'm starting out really easy though, ex: I did 2 miles on the elliptical today and did a few reps w/ arm weights from 5-8 pounds. My arms are getting toner from the weights from the past couple of weeks....but I need to figure out how to tone my triceps more. Suggestions? ;D
